August is traditionally a month for National Day festivities, when we celebrate our unity as a nation. Part of this is our relationship with our neighbours. Let’s look at how Singaporeans feel about their neighbours and neighbourhood in this month’s Quick Polls!
The majority (6 in 10, or 64%) of those we polled are cordial with their neighbours, treating them as ‘hi and bye’ acquaintances. Close to 1 in 5 are either not friends with their neighbours (19%) or very close to them (17%).

While most people aren’t that warm with their neighbours, a significant 9 out of 10 (90%) like their neighbourhood, which is great, as our living environment influences our wellbeing. With most neighbourhoods in Singapore being safe and equipped with essential amenities, it’s natural for people to enjoy the benefits from living in their neighbourhood and even develop a sense of belonging with it
