The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about many disruptions in our lives. Perhaps one of the most significant ones is not being able to travel as freely as we could before.

In this month’s Quick Polls, let’s learn about what people think about travelling overseas!

85% of those we polled are looking forward to travelling overseas again. The opportunity to de-stress, bond with family and friends, and explore new cultures are just some of the reasons why travelling overseas is so appealing to Singaporeans!

Going by the positive response to cruises during last year’s December school holidays*, we would expect people to jump on the opportunity to travel once borders open. Is this the case?

While the lure of a getaway is strong, Singaporeans are also a cautious lot. Only 52% of people we polled would like to go travelling once it is made possible.

Given the recent discovery of new COVID-19 virus variants, the situation remains uncertain in many countries. People may prefer to take a ‘wait and see’ approach and venture abroad only when they deem it is safe.

Meanwhile, how do we satisfy our wanderlust? Maybe it’s time to explore our little red dot 😊. There are many gems – both new and old – waiting to be discovered by you without having to hop onboard a flight!
